Re: Submission period opens for Montserrat Poetry Festival
Sub. Deadline: January 31, 2009
Event Date: May 3, 2009
Plans are underway to produce the second, annual poetry festival in Montserrat, Missouri (USA) and organizers are seeking submissions from writers who would like to be considered as readers for next years event.
Area poets are encouraged to submit 10 poems for consideration, according to festival organizer, Mark Pearce. Pearce said the overall festival program will be arranged to ensure that the presented works will be audibly accessible and will provide a variety of poetic styles and themes for a general audience. Individual applicants are encouraged to submit works reflecting those qualities as well.
Around 100 people attended the first poetry festival this past summer, and Pearce said he expects at least twice that number at next years event.
Weve got sponsorship support from Central Missouris public television station, KMOS-TV, according to Pearce. Channel 6 is going to help publicize the event and serve as the sponsoring organization. With that kind of support we believe we are truly building an arts event with Midwest regional significance, Pearce said.
Perspective readers should submit ten original works to:

Holding it prior to school's finish allows for a few extra locals to attend -- but it does discourage significant travel.
Sorry about that.

The word superfluous has too many unnecessary letters.
Alec is still on line to attend and I think he will draw some additional people from the dA community. It'll be a good time.

And miles from where you are
I lay down on the cold ground
and I
I pray that something picks me up
and sets me down
in your warm arms...
